Scissor Lift Train the Trainer

Working at heights is always a risk no matter how many safety principles are instilled in operators. By having the knowledge to reduce these risks and cope in emergencies working at heights has been made safer.

Since scissor lifts are a type of work platform, they are covered under the specific requirements for mobile scaffolds in §1926.452(w) and the general requirements for scaffolds in §1926.451.  Scissors type lifts are not specifically covered by [29 CFR] 1910.67 or any other 29 CFR 1910 General Industry standard. Nevertheless, an employer of an employee who uses scissors type lifts in the workplace is subject to Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act as well as the ANSI Scissor Lift Standard.

Learning objectives include:
• Job-site safety
• OSHA requirements
• Floor loading requirements
• PPE
• Pre-operation inspection
• Safety features of the lift

This course goes beyond the usual operator training by preparing participants to become a trainer of other operators. Upon completion of the course, students receive an instructor’s manual with a comprehensive training program and all the necessary tests and guidelines to follow when training their operators.
