Care to guess what is the fifth most violated OSHA Standard?
Hint: It's the same one that accounts for more than 5% of all OSHA dollar penalties, the highest of any Standard?
It's not that hard to see why OSHA's Lockout/Tagout regulation - the Control of Hazardous Energy, CFR 1910.147, has produced so many penalties. Almost 3 million workers are at risk from uncontrolled energy when servicing equipment. Every year there are 7,600 injuries from electrical contact alone. Unnecessary injuries that could have been easily avoided - 80% of workers fail to turn off equipment before servicing it! IMA is offering the following training course for companies like yours to get into compliance.
This course is designed to help better understand the requirements for the control of hazardous energy as required in 29 CFR 1910.147 and includes discussion on the basics of lockout/tagout including procedures by helping to identify the dangers associated with energized equipment and help identify the responsibilities of affected, authorized and other employees. The course also includes discussion on the requirements of the OSHA standard, requirements for a written program, and the steps involved in a lockout situation.
Who should attend this training program?
Those with company safety responsibilities, safety committee members, those who supervise employees who service or repair energized equipment or machines and maintenance personnel.
