IMA Responds to Joplin Tornados

The employees of IMA of Kansas filled a charter bus and traveled to Joplin June 6 to volunteer with United Way and help the Catholic Charities Disaster Response.  The volunteers gathered at McCauley High School to unload trailers, sort donated items, and distribute needed goods to the people of Joplin.

Wichita-headquartered IMA, Inc., is the 11th largest independently owned retail insurance broker in the U.S. with offices in Dallas, Denver, Kansas City, Topeka and Wichita.

“Our IMA family was deeply impacted by the devastation in Joplin,” said Jeff Grace, president of IMA of Kansas.  “We wanted to go beyond keeping the people of Joplin in our hearts and prayers, which is why we’ve traveled to Joplin to lend a hand.”

IMA launched a three-pronged response to the Joplin tornados.  In addition to the volunteer effort, IMA’s Kansas City office filled a truck with donated items such as clothing and water.  The company is also raising funds, and the IMA Foundation will match funds raised up to $5,000, which gives the company potential to make a more than $10,000 impact.  As of June 6, IMA’s Kansas City office alone had raised $2,000.

IMA is planning to continue its volunteer efforts in both Joplin and Reading over the long haul.  Future volunteer excursions are in the planning stages.
