JOB DESCRIPTION 
Account Technician

 

Role:

Actively participate in the department by assisting the Account Managers in coordinating and providing IMA services to our commercial clients. 

  Major Duties and Responsibilities    
(E) Essential or (N) Nonessential
35%  Process policies, endorsements and audits from the Commercial Lines Teams.  E
30% Assist with special projects and reports as requested (i.e. putting renewal policies in books, preparing tabs, checking forms, copying projects, ordering MVR's, processing returned certificates, inputting large schedules, etc).  E
10% Assist with the renewal processes, as requested (i.e. update property values, copy schedules, request loss runs from insurance carriers, prepare and/or update premium and loss summary on system, prepare account review according to standards set forth by the IMA Commercial workflow, etc).  E
10%  Prepare Experience Modification projections as directed by Account Executive or Account Managers. E
5% Assist in account servicing needs during the policy year including certificates, auto ID cards, filings, etc.  Accountable for maintaining account files including Sagitta data base, core files and transactional files. E
5% Assist or monitor reporting forms for receipt and adjustments and monthly expiration lists, as requested. E
5% Actively support the department by participating in the completion of all duties required to complete a project and service an account. 
  Expectations:  
 
  1. Complete all duties in accordance with IMA workflow standards.
  2. Treat clients, company personnel and associates with respect and courtesy.  
 
  Knowledge and Skills:  
Experience: 

Six months to two years of similar or related experience.

Education: 

Equivalent to a high school education.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.  Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion.
  Other Skills:

Prefer commercial property and casualty experience. Most communication is through internal contacts.  Basic math with the ability to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.  Strong computer proficiency required.  Prefer property and casualty license for state of business.  Willingness to complete additional duties and take on additional responsibility as the need arises.  
Operational Latitude (Reasoning/Decision Making):
Specific standards and operating procedures provide some options and latitude for independent decision and action.  Decisions are usually limited to choosing between two or three known options.  There is minimal room for discretion.
 
Mental Process:
Problems encountered are relatively simple in nature, requiring some analysis or research to determine the best solution from a limited number of prescribed options.
